2019 Accomplishments
As 2019 nears its end, I’m reflecting on the work I’ve been able to accomplish this year. Thank you to Ward 4 and all Edmontonians for making this list a reality. Together, we are making #yeg an ever better place to call home with more jobs, stronger community, and a welcoming place for all. - Took action on litter in our communities.
- Hosted a successful community event with Chief of Police Dale McFee to discuss community safety and neighbourhood action.
- Started an Anti-Racism advisory council.
- Successfully campaigned for an overpass at Yellowhead and 66 St.
- Created a pilot project for community composting.
- Banned Conversion Therapy.
- Added dozens of advanced green turning lights, flashing crosswalk LEDs, and traffic lights to our community.
- Provided grant funding to start The Public, a food hub in Edmonton.
- Changed the way our city budgets, advocating for priority based budgeting methods.
- Established “Voice It,” welcoming community members to raise their voices and become a Councillor-for-a-Day.
- Successfully fought for a conservation easement on local farm land in NE Edmonton.
- Campaigned for free transit on election day.
- Declared Climate Emergency.
- Exposed $600 Million worth of consultancy fees.
- Visited all the neighbourhoods in Ward 4 at least once.
- Changed the Climate Action toolkit to encourage economic opportunities for our city.
- Supported Edmonton Eats, as they grow and support newcomer families.
- Demanded transit fare fines be reduced to match parking fines, and named it a tax on poverty.
- Fought for mobile home sites, and continue to push the provincial government to act on rights for mobile home site owners.
- Voted to stop the use of calcium chloride on Edmonton streets.
- Introduced the Amazing Race Winners to City Hall, as honorary guests.
- Fought for the repair of dozens of sidewalks and changed how we prioritize sidewalks and regions.
- Proclaimed November 20th National Child Day in Edmonton.
- Funded Boyle Street Warming Bus for 2020.
- Read to over 700 students in more than 10 schools in Ward 4 for Read In Week.
- Successfully advocated for the Evergreen Community League to keep their doors open
- Moved the needle on Station Pointe, securing developer and rezoning interest for the first time in decades.
- Changed bylaws to allow for backyard chickens and bees.
- Brought Fresh Routes Mobile Food Market to NE Edmonton.
- Led the charge on making transit more accessible and affordable in our communities
- Created and passed a social procurement policy for the city.
